England v Spain at Wembley

12 November. We were lucky to have the current World Champions of football – Spain – play a match at Wembley Stadium against England. Very excited to visit the new stadium, it’s a beautiful piece of architecture with the feeling of a cross between the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Etihad Stadium. The 3 tiers of seating is similar to the “G” and the seating is like Etihad. I was surprised that there wasn’t much emotion in the stadium. Quite clinical and didn’t come away with a feeling that it was magical.
Getting to Wembley from London is pretty easy. There are two tube stations that serve the ground. One to the north and one to the south. We went from Oxford Circus via the Bakerloo line. You have to catch the train that goes to all the way to Harrow & Wealdston as some trains stop before Wembley Central at Stonebridge Park and Queens Park. From Wembley Central it’s a 15-20 minute walk to the ground. The train runs every 10-15 minutes. After the match the train was packed like a sardine can all the way to Paddington. Here are some pics.
