Nikon 24mm 1.4

This lens arrived 2 days before my London trip and I took it away with me coupled to a D700. It was my only lens and it was a perfect travel lens. All these photos are shot with it which shows you how versatile it is.

London 2012 Olympics

Just spent a week in London talking to the organiser of the 2012 games about RedTxt opportunities. The site is amazing. There are some photos here.

Bad Ram

Pretty rare these days but my Mac Pro has developed some bad RAM. Swapped it out for a 2GB DIMM and all’s well again.

Lightroom 3 and high ISO 102,400 noise reduction quality

Adobe’s new version of Lightroom has some serious new improvements in noise reduction. Here are 4 images at ISO 102,400 and 51,200 on a Nikon D3s processed with LR3. This is one good reason to shoot in RAW as when I first looked at these images in Lightroom 2 they were horrible. But re-processed in LR3 they’re amazing. Here are some images shot at f2.8 1/1000th at Darebin. At a stadium the lighting is good for ISO 2500 but at club grounds like Darebin it’s about 5 f-stops dimmer so LR3 makes shooting at these venues possible.
