Pretty rare these days but my Mac Pro has developed some bad RAM. Swapped it out for a 2GB DIMM and all’s well again.
A few readers have asked for a comparison image with no noise reduction processing in Lightroom 3. Here are comparison images. LR2, LR3 with no NR and LR3 with luminance NR at 40. Click through to see them at 100%
Adobe’s new version of Lightroom has some serious new improvements in noise reduction. Here are 4 images at ISO 102,400 and 51,200 on a Nikon D3s processed with LR3. This is one good reason to shoot in RAW as when I first looked at these images in Lightroom 2 they were horrible. But re-processed in […]
Shot a special event for Liberian refugees for the Football Federation of Victoria. Slideshow. The girls played a game called Kickball – like baseball with a round ball and the boys/men had a regular game. Tony Dunkerley, the president of the FFV attended.
Beautiful light from big black storm clouds today and a muddy pitch. Slideshow.
Overcast and gloomy afternoon for soccer. Slideshow
iPad working via 3G on Telstra – had to put in the APN manually as iTunes didn’t download the carrier settings straight away. Right on time.
The current issue of Goal Weekly has a cover with my image from the socceroos training session. It looks great – tabloid size
Farewell event at Melbourne Airport. Awful lighting conditions for photos. Slideshow here.
Here’s my favourite image from the match. Slideshow here
A couple of photos from the farewell match between Australia and New Zealand at the MCG. This is the 3D camera that shot the match. Apparently the first 3D football match televised. Note the position of the camera means that the usual position for the photographers at the end of the pitch can’t be used […]
Great afternoon autumn light for today’s match against Bulleen FC. Ashburton won 1-0 and remain undefeated and a clean sheet! Slideshow here.
Even German TV station RTL was in attendance! Images here.
Shot some images of my friend Andrew Lew roasting coffee at his Maling Room cafe.
The exhibition opened today at the National Sports Museum. My photos are beside the ones of legendary Laurie Schwab and Les Shorrock. Come by and have a look at the beautiful game’s history.
Public open training session at AAMI Park and the official team photo session. This image has had minimal post processing – looked like a HDR photo straight out of the camera.
My images have been regularly used by Football Federation Victoria’s news stories but I haven’t been had them run on a club’s web site. But got contacted by Sydney FC and have got an image onto their web site’s news section. Just one of the few images that aren’t through the club’s Getty Images arrangement.
My first exhibition. The National Sports Museum at the MCG will be showcasing archive photos from the late Laurie Schwab and Les Shorrock at an exhibition titled The Global Game: A photographic exhibition on the history of association football in Australia. I’ve got several photos in the exhibition highlighting the game in more recent times. […]
The first wintery morning of the season. Shooting in fog meant using the 200mm f2 instead of the 400mm. Slideshow here.
Is this the last match for Kevin? Here’s a slideshow of the match Melbourne Victory played against the Come Play XI which was made up of Australia’s Young Socceroos team.
Melbourne Victory played a friendly against Sydney FC tonight, the women christening the new stadium with the first football match. Sydney won 3-1. Here’s the match report and slideshow.
Shot two football matches at the new AAMI Park stadium in Melbourne tonight. It’s like a high-end club ground with seating very close to the boundaries. It doesn’t have a roof so no weather protection but the lights seem to be very effective giving about a 1/2 stop more illumination than Etihad Stadium. Here are […]
As with most photographers I get asked for my camera recommendations. So based on all the recent reviews and my personal experience here are the two types of cameras I would buy: 1. For no compromise photos, the Nikon D700 or D3s. The D700 if you don’t do sport and the D3s if you do. […]
Shot this event for Five Senses. Photos from the Über Project night at Proud Mary.
