Kim had to get her cards from Gianni today. So another opportunity to take some photos of his workshop.

Sunshine back in Venice
The sun was out again. We went exploring in the Dorsoduro area across the Accademia bridge:

We had lunch at Da Fiore, one of two Michelin starred restaurants in Venice:

I had a beautiful pumpkin gnocchi with white truffle to start followed by a mixed seafood. It was the best gnocchi I’ve ever had, even if it was €50 for an entree-size portion:

Then a boat ride back to Rialto for some shopping and then home in the afternoon light:

Rainy Day in Venice
The rain arrived on Wednesday.

People rugged up as they waited at the Vaporetto stops:

We had lunch at the Il Nuovo Galeon which, according to a local foodie, is where Venetian foodies go:

My fried mixed seafood was just fabulous:

We headed back to the Rialto area after lunch

And finished off the day with some pasta at home with a great sauce from the Cipriani and a Brunello:

Excellent Venetian restaurants
25 October. We’ve had some excellent food in the past three days. On Sunday, we went back to Acqua Pazza, a place we loved in 2004. It’s as we remembered it. Lots of seafood, pizza and the ice cream/sorbets served in the fruit, like chestnut. And the complimentary limoncello is still there. The service can be a little slow so expect to wait a little bit for the food if the place is full. Yesterday we ate at Alla Botte, a little place near Rialto recommended by the web site Visit Venice. The girls had steak, Kim had a sea bass pasta and I had a fritto misto. All excellent. I had some Cicchetti of baked cuttle fish and prawns.

Today, we got into a popular restaurant L’Osteria di Santa Marina for lunch. I had a Boletus mushroom strudel and then a squid ink tagliatelle with lobster sauce. Great desert of persimmon meringue mille feuille.

Here’s a good article about other places to eat in Venice. See Venice and dine like a native.
