Finally got down here after battling Saturday traffic on the A7 out of Lyon. First problem was that the Avis web site has the wrong names for the two train stations so our car that was booked for Lyon Part Dieu wasn’t there when we arrived. After getting that sorted we dropped into Les Halles to get some food for dinner in Issirac, just in case we got in late. Just as well since the traffic jam going south on the A7 was ridiculous, but apparently quite normal when the whole of France is on it. When we finally got in after 6pm after leaving Lyon at 1.30pm or so, at least we had a yummy meal of saucisson lyonnais:

Woke up next day to appreciate the beauty of our friend’s stone cottage in the middle of wild France:

Despite the temperature being in the high 30s, went into visit the wine store at Chateauneuf-du-Pape and got some vino and duck for another home cooked meal:

Last day in Paris
Here’s a view of the apartment we’ve been living in for the past 5 days in Abbesses, Montmartre – it’s on the 5th floor, with the terrace and 3 windows at No. 11:

It’s really close to the metro stop – right out the front door:

The streets around Montmartre:

And a bit of French cow for our last lunch in Paris (cooked in our kitchen):

Bye Bye Paris
Rue Montorgueil
This street has a long history so we went for a stroll down here in the morning to pick up some supplies for lunch back at the apartment:

This place has been killing snails for 179 years!

and this place has been selling little pigs:
