On our last family day in Paris we are celebrating Mia’s birthday at an Alain Ducasse restaurant in the Eifflel Tower. Le Jules Verne is on the highest platform before the summit with its own private elevator going up 123 metres!

The 3 course menu was delicious. Here is the Petit Pois starter, followed by Bress chicken and then a savarin:

Mia’s birthday candle and petit fours with acceptable espresso:

Le Jules Verne
Paris, Thursday
Off to Parfum Caron, the famous perfume house that was in the movie Scent of a Woman, to let Mia check out a French perfume house. Then caught up with Ryu for lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant – Le Bambou. I had beef Pho – similar to what we get in Melbourne but a much richer stock. After lunch we strolled around Montmartre and up to the Sacre Coeur cathedral where we saw a very cool football juggler Iya Traore:

After more sightseeing along the canal, had dinner on the way home at L’Entrecote de Paris – another steak and chips place. Thought it wasn’t as good as the Relais de L’Entrecote, but still worth going to.
The light was nice so tried to catch the Arc de Triomphe in the Golden Hour:

Wednesday, Paris
A relatively early start to meet up with Hal and Sally-Anne. Firstly to Laduree for breaky:

Then a stroll through to the Louvre where there’s always interesting street activity:

Through the gardens of the Palais Royal for some shopping at Galeries Layfaette:

and then a late lunch of some fantastic Spanish, Italian and Portuguese hams at Da Rosa (note it only serves food from 12pm although the shop is open from 10):

And finally a bit of fruit and veg shopping on the street:

Monday, Paris
So many things to do in Paris. First task on a Monday is to get a Metro pass for the week. The locals get a Navigo Semaine pass which is good for all travel in zone 1 and 2 for a week. Armed with the pass the first stop is to Fauchon for a spot of lunch:

Then off to get some tea from Mariage Frères for the first decent cuppa in weeks:

The last thing we did was a meal with my buddy Ryu and his wife Delphine at Chez Justine. Just the best Côte de Boeuf I’ve ever had:

and a little entrée before hand:
