Ski repairs

After 2 days of skiing it’s becoming clear that the snow cover is pretty ordinary and there are lots of rocks and debris. All of our skis have serious damage to the bottoms and edges. An edge tune up with and a bit of wax will help a lot. Here’s a picture of the FK Tools 3100 and a coarse diamond stone to get rid of the burrs. The FK Tools file tool is fabulous, cheap and works:

Snowmass

After skiing on Aspen Mountain on day 1 we ventured to Snowmass on day 2. The free shuttle bus leaves from Rubey Park and is a 30 minute or so ride away.

Macbook Upgrades

It was finally time to upgrade my Macbook with a Solid State Drive before doing the operating system upgrade to Lion 10.7. The OWC 6G SSD is a proven disk, unlike a couple of others I’ve had problems with in the past year. Fingers crossed it will be reliable.

Aspen – 30 years later

Aspen - US - 1 Jan 2012
I was in Aspen in December 1981, being a ski bum, working at Holland House. After saying I’ll be back next year, finally got back here thirty years later with my family. The town has totally changed, Holland House is no longer there, and nothing is recognisable. The first day out on the snow was under clear blue skies, spring-like conditions, but I’ve never skied over more rocks and debris in my life. The ski bases are trashed. So everything here is great except for the lack of snow.
