Aspen

A quintessentially American dinner of take away ribs and chicken wings from Hickory House Ribs followed by ice cream of an unusual, but delicious, flavour.

With 8 inches of fresh snow everyone wanted to make fresh tracks. The Silver Queen gondola opens at 9am and the queue started around 8am. By 8.50am there was about 200 people in the queue, winding its way around the corner:

There hasn’t been a snow fall for weeks and the locals were saying that it’s been the driest winter they can remember. So it was a relief when 8 inches dropped from the heavens on Saturday:

After 2 days of skiing it’s becoming clear that the snow cover is pretty ordinary and there are lots of rocks and debris. All of our skis have serious damage to the bottoms and edges. An edge tune up with and a bit of wax will help a lot. Here’s a picture of the FK […]

After skiing on Aspen Mountain on day 1 we ventured to Snowmass on day 2. The free shuttle bus leaves from Rubey Park and is a 30 minute or so ride away.
