The journey took a cancelled flight and 40 hours…
Here’s a picture of us deplaning in Dubai at 5am. No sign of an airbridge in sight. Not a good impression.

And when transiting in Frankfurt there were raffles for classic Mercedes all over the place. I guess raffles for vintage Holdens wouldn’t have as much cachet:

They say Stockholm is all about islands. Well from the air it’s confirmed:

After a good sleep the sightseeing started with a stroll to the old town Gamla stan via a street called Götgatan. Here’s a map of the places we intend to visit on Google Maps.

Some charming buildings including a hotel tucked in a lane:

One of the coolest buildings is a bar/restaurant called Gondolen which is suspended high up with a great view of Stockholm:

Lots of street markets with beautiful berries. The Swedes love their berries I’m told:

Lunchtime came around and we stopped at Pontus Frithiof by the Sea. Time to have a the classic Swedish Skagen dish:

After lunch it was off to the old town Gamla stan which is also where the royal palace is located:

Stockholm – day 1
Getting a reservation at The Fat Duck
My foodie friend and I are off to The Fat Duck. It took over 200 phone calls when the booking opened. He had two phones on speed-dial. His mobile and his landline. Here’s a screenshot of the call log. According to a recent article the restaurant gets 30,000 phone calls a day requesting reservations. If each reservation request takes 200 calls on average that’s only 150 callers. So the 30,000 calls isn’t unrealistic.
Can’t wait!

My exposure mode for sports
Just wrote about what exposure mode(s) I use for shooting sports over at Big Lens Fast Shutter. Have a read and let me know what you think!
It’s how I get images like these:

Back shooting soccer
Costa from Goal Weekly asked if I could help out this weekend and cover a Women’s Premier League match. So went out to DISC and shot in sun, wind and then rain. Makes you appreciate how nice stadiums with a roof is! More photos here.
