The first time this event has been held outside the Northern Hemisphere. The warm up race was held in Ballarat. This shot was taken with a 400mm with the riders approaching the start/finish line:

Aluratek portable router and Telstra NextG MF623 modem
So the Eye-fi card works fine with the Aluratek router. For the next test, is it compatible with a Telstra 3G USB modem? Well it sure is. Here’s the modem plugged into the router’s slot:

There’s one trick to setting it up – you need to choose some manual settings. The config that’s embedded in the router has a spelling mistake – so just put telstra.internet in the APN and bang – all’s good:

Eye-fi card for wireless photography
I got intrigued by Rob Galbraith’s post on Wireless photography with an iPad and ShutterSnitch so I got the bits referred to in his article and am trying to replicate it. Aluratek modem and Eye-Fi cards from Adorama. All good so far…

A-League Round 7
An overcast afternoon for this match. Shot the first half from Level 3 of the stadium giving a really clean background to the images. Link to gallery here.
A-League, WPL and VPL grand final weekend
First weekend with no rain for quite a few weeks. Had a 10.5mm fisheye from Nikon on a D300s body. I was surprised how much better the D3 and D3s is still compared with the D300s sensor. Also shot some of the football with my 1.7 teleconverter. The images were pretty good and nothing beats 650mm for reach!
