Tested the Fuji XT-2 as a behind the goal remote camera. Triggered by a Yongnuo remote, it fires at 14 fps. Looks like it’s a pretty good solution. More testing to come. Here’s a sample animated set of images. And here’s the setup:

Some highlights from a friendly between Australian Soccerroos and Greece. More here and apimages.com

Finally got to shoot a match with the Australian Matildas soccer team. This was a friendly against New Zealand in the lead up to the Rio Olympic Games. Covered 2 matches when the team was in Melbourne. More photos here, and at apimages.com

At what is probably the first international event where Nikon’s NPS and Canon’s CPS had the new flagship cameras available I couldn’t resist to take them both out for a spin. Readers may remember that I switched from Nikon to Canon about 3 years ago when I was let down by the Canon 1D Mk3’s autofocus […]

A few images from the grand final match where Melbourne City def Sydney FC 4-1. Melbourne won every match in its first season in the league and the grand final.

We’re well into week 2 of the Australian Open. Here are some photo highlights. More images here.

The most uplifting sports event I’ve ever covered was the Homeless World Cup when it was held in Melbourne, 2008. You can read about the event here. The event was staffed by largely volunteers, including the photography team. I turned up to cover it as a freelance but after meeting the team led by Michael Brown […]

International basketball made a return to Melbourne after fifteen years. Rod Laver Arena hosted game one of the 2015 FIBA Oceania Championships between Australia and New Zealand with both the women’s and men’s team playing off. Here are some photos. More here.

The International Champions Cup brought these three European powerhouses down to the Melbourne Cricket Ground for 3 matches. Here are some of my photos from the event held during July 2015 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. More here.

My travel plans had me in the Northern Hemisphere in late May and I covered the French Open. The clay surface, the late afternoon light, and the suburban location are the three unique characteristics of this event. The photography points on the major courts are also special. Court level, high up, in the stands, and also low […]

Canon Professional Services CPS had a pre-release Canon 5Ds at the French Open. I borrowed it late one day when it looked likely Tsonga was going to win an epic match on centre court. I wanted a loose shot with the crowd celebrating with Tsonga and CPS had a 100mm 2.8L lens that could do justice to […]

Here are four samples of the 7D Mk II used at the 2015 Australian Open. In the right conditions, it’s very good.

This is my third Ironman event. Covering the swim at the start is easy, but getting the bike leg without having access to a motor bike is more difficult. at least this year I managed to get some photos at the turn around point. Full gallery here.

This is the sixth year I’ve shot a coffee-related competition. Each time it’s different because of the venue and the lighting. Today, it was the Australia latte art championship. The format is each competitor has to reproduce the design of three drinks they’ve photographed. The challenge is to get a shot of the competitor and […]
