Costa from Goal Weekly asked if I could help out this weekend and cover a Women’s Premier League match. So went out to DISC and shot in sun, wind and then rain. Makes you appreciate how nice stadiums with a roof is! More photos here.

It’s been awhile since the Socceroos played in Melbourne. Here are some images from their match on Tuesday night. All of these were shot from the sideline where you’re not permitted to sit at the domestic A-League and Asian Cup matches unless you’re the official photographer. One of my favourites is the first image where […]

I’ve been in Utah for the past week and went on a tour to a canyon called Secret Canyon. Took the opportunity to take the GoPro out for a spin. Mounted it on the windscreen and got the following footage on the way back from the canyon. and here’s the camera mounted on the windscreen:

In New York for a couple of weeks. You can follow my photos here:

This is the inner sanctum. The Paddock is the area where the F1 team have their lounges, eating area and drivers’ quiet space. At Melbourne it’s behind the pits, separated by an internal road/path. To get into the Paddock you enter by scanning your pass at the turnstiles.

Followers of F1 will see many shots of the cars from the angle on the right of the image below. The left side of the image shows where the photographer is located for these shots. To get there you climb up a narrow ladder usually with a big heavy piece of glass like a 400mm […]

At last, the sun came out. After 3 days of cloudy, rainy weather Melbourne brought out some autumn sunshine. The late afternoon sun allowed some nice creative lighting of the cars on many parts of the circuit. This was shot as the cars exited turn 3. More images here.

For over a year now I’ve been wondering what shooting sport would be like with the D3x and the 24 megapixels it offers – twice the number of pixels of the D3 and the D3s. There are just times when you need more reach from a 400mm. If I had more pixels, then I don’t […]

Three days of Formula One in Melbourne. Shooting this for Southcreek with what is a surprisingly small number of accredited photographers. There’s probably around 60 covering the event for international and local publications and wires. But, 60 still feels a lot when packed into one place. Here’s a photo by Getty Images of the pack […]

A small crowd for this year’s first AFC match in Melbourne. Images here. Good to be shooting soccer again after a bit of a lull.

Race day dawned rainy, but luckily it cleared up for a dry race. The front runners dominated so there was little close racing. Some images here.

A sunny Saturday afternoon for Superbike qualifying. Images here.

Went to Phillip Island for an official testing session ahead of round 1 of the FIM Superbike Championships. Photos here.

As one sport (soccer) finishes a new one (rugby union) starts. Here’s a gallery of week 1 of the Super 15s rugby tournament that’s now in Melbourne in its first season with Melbourne’s own team the Rebels.

The final round of this year’s A-League. It was good shooting football again after all the tennis! Farewell to two socceroos who retired after this match. More images here.

This is where it all happened. Click here for more venue images.

It’s a wrap. 14 days. 941 images uploaded to Southcreek – more to come in the coming days. Huge thanks to Nikon Professional Services for the 600mm, lens and sensor cleaning and their fridge which was a temporary staging point for the Heineken beers. Special thanks to Julie, Rob, Danny, and Terence from Nikon. Day […]

All the images from the women’s final are here.

Been a bit hectic over the past 3 days, so here’s an image of the day from each day and a link to the gallery for Day 10, Day 11 and Day 12. Enjoy!

The pointy end of the tournament is approaching and the losses are more painful to bear. Day 9 images here.

This is an images from the “other” side of the court, where there are 10 seats for photographers to shoot from the umpire’s side. Can’t get this aspect from the main side of the court. More images from day 8 here.

Photos from Day 7 are here.
