Warm up at soccer matches aren’t the most interesting of things to photograph. Here’s a go at doing something creative. Some slow shutter speed zoom and pan blurs:

Photos from the first home round for the Melbourne Victory in the W-League competition. More photos on MFootball.

Melbourne Victory just posted this on YouTube:

A selection of images from this season opener. Live images worked well with images used by @gomvfc and @melbfootball – More images on MFootball and Melbourne Victory.

You can’t always shoot with a tilt-shift lens but you can now create the effect pretty convincingly with Photoshop CS6. Here are a few photos from last year with the effect applied:

It’s pre-season for the A-League and Melbourne Victory have started their training matches. These matches are at the grounds of semi-professional teams from the Victorian Premier League. The grounds are lit well enough for playing but for photography it’s a challenge. To stop the motion it’s best to shoot at 1/000th of a second. At […]

International rugby doesn’t come to Melbourne very often, but it’s good when it does! More photos here.

Good to shoot some action. Lots of options shooting rugby – tight, loose and everything else in between. More here.

Back to Etihad stadium to cover the Greek football powerhouse Olympiakos in an exhibition match against Melbourne Victory. Photos here. And, some shots from the Socceroos earlier this year against Saudi Arabia on a rainy night. Photos here.

I haven’t shot a coffee competition for a couple of years. The Detpak Australian Barista Championship is back in Melbourne after a few years in Queensland, so here are images of the 6 finalists competing. All the photos here on Flickr. High res images will be uploaded later.

Here’s a TV screen grab of where my photos on Day 5 were taken from. It’s a stairwell that was blocked off and not used for the event. That’s yours truly highlighted below. There was another photographer and I in there for the evening session:

Winners are grinners on the last session of the UCI Track World Champs. But there were crashes too. More photos in my archive.

Some pics today that’s different from bicycles going around and around. For captions click on the images:

Lots of action today in the Men’s and Women’s Sprint events. More Day 3 pictures here:

The last cycling event I covered was the UCI Road World Championships in Geelong. This time it’s in Melbourne and at the Hisense arena for the Track World Champs. 5 days of racing. Here’s the start of the pics. More here.

My first Ironman event and it’s a very early start – before sunrise. More pics here.

I’ll be covering the Super Rugby for ZUMA Press. Here’s a pic from my first match and more pics here:

Raceday arrives. It’s actually more like race evening as the race starts at 5pm. The F1 activity starts early with lots of special guests arriving in the F1 Paddock, and the formal stuff starts around 3pm with the drivers’ photos. Then it’s getting into position and then lots of waiting around. Here are some photos […]

After yesterday’s rain, qualification was in bright late afternoon sunshine. I’ve also worked out that the Nikon D4’s autofocus needs a shutter speed of at least 1/1000th to work best in AF-C or tracking autofocus mode. It struggles (with me anyway) at 1/500th, but bumping it up works a treat. Here are the photos of […]

It was a wet/dry day of F1 practise in both sessions. Here are my favourite shots. The panning shots are shot with a Nikon D3x with a 28-300mm lens and the other shots are with a Nikon D4 and a 400mm. First impressions of the Nikon D4 for sports is that the Auto Focus behaves […]

It’s F1 week and Sunday saw the arrival of the first cars. You can follow my week in photos here:

Just finished 7 days of shooting the 2012 Australian Open. What a great way to overcome jet lag. The first two nights were pretty tough especially around 9pm, and then as the body clock adjusted the full days started getting pretty late. The men’s final at almost 6 hours meant finally getting to bed around […]

12 November. We were lucky to have the current World Champions of football – Spain – play a match at Wembley Stadium against England. Very excited to visit the new stadium, it’s a beautiful piece of architecture with the feeling of a cross between the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Etihad Stadium. The 3 tiers of […]

Here are some shots of filming a sequence of the movie Born of War at our complex this morning: Here’s the trailer: httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdfQKRtfFx0
